[Abk. für Command Line Interface, dt. »Kommandozeilen-Schnittstelle«] das, eine gewöhnlich vom Betriebssystem zur Verfügung gestellte Zeile, in die der Benutzer Anweisungen eingeben und über die er mit dem System kommunizieren kann. Eine solche Kommandozeile stellt eine besonders einfache und schnelle Kommunikationsform dar. Anders als bei grafischen Benutzeroberflächen stehen aber keine Auswahlmöglichkeiten zur Verfügung, der Benutzer muss vielmehr die möglichen Befehle und die Eingabesyntax kennen. Ein CLI ist z. B. bei Unix in Form einer sog. Shell realisiert.
